TIP OF THE WEEK

                                                                                       December 27, 2010

Did you know...?

A Kansas City taxi service is doing its part to make sure everyone gets home safely this holiday season.

An alcohol-related motor vehicle crash kills someone in the United States every 31 minutes and injures someone every two minutes.  During the holiday season, the roads become even more dangerous.  Parties and festivities make the period between Christmas and New Year's Day the most deadly season when it comes to alcohol-related crashes.  Alcohol and drug related crashes can be prevented.

If you do too much celebrating this holiday season, the first three miles of a ride in “Johnny's Holiday Cab" also known as “Johnny’s Arrive Alive” is free and a company driver will drive your car home.

The holiday cab service runs through New Year’s Day.  There are 11 cab drivers from various Kansas City cab companies signed on to help cab driver John Oesterle this season.  All are licensed and insured taxi drivers.  John started the program after his wife was killed by a drunk driver.  This is the third year for the service.  You can call Johnny's Arrive Alive anytime, day or night, at (816) 316-3784.  Please help John spread the word and make this holiday a safer one!

In addition… Yellow Cab, who is not affiliated with Johnny's Arrive Alive, is offering a free ride to New Year's partygoers via their Kansas City Strip service , which offers shuttle rides to and from the city's most popular entertainment districts.  Shuttle rides will be free to everyone from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on New Year's Eve.    For more information about The Kansas City Strip service call 816-512-5555 or visit their webpage at http://thekansascitystrip.com/.

This holiday season and throughout the year, make a commitment to avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and stop others from doing the same.  We encourage you to take advantage of the holiday cab program if you have too much to drink and don’t have a designated driver.  Help make this year’s Holiday a Safe and Happy one!
