Nurses Week is May 6-12 each year. It begins on Nurses Day on May 6 and ends on May 12 which is the birth date of founding nurse, Florence Nightingale.
There are nearly 2.7 million registered nurses in the United States. And, 2.2 million of them are actively employed.
As of November 2001, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that more than one million new nurses will be needed by the year 2010. The report projects that total employment will increase by 22.2 million jobs during 2000-2010, rising to 167.8 million. Health care practitioners and technical occupations are expected to account for 1.6 million new jobs during that period. Registered nurses represent the largest occupation in this group and should account for more than a third of those new jobs.

** OHS-COMPCARE is pleased to announce plans to expand our Independence facility by moving to a newer, bigger location! Our new facility will be located next door to Medical Imaging in the Eastland Center Court (19000 E. Eastland Center Court, Suite 200, Independence, MO 64055).
