Did you know...?

Legislative Alert:

KSIA Members:

Friday March 10, 2006, SB 461 was favorably passed by the House Commerce Committee.  This is our bill that provides relief to employers on preexisting conditions and employees taking advantage of workers compensation when they are let go for cause or economic reasons.  We are in the best position we've ever been in to get this bill passed, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

This bill will be discussed and voted on Monday March 13, 2006 in the full House.  WE NEED ALL MEMBERS TO CONTACT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE!!!  Please remember to contact the Representatives at both your home and work addresses.

PLEASE URGE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO VOTE "YES" ON SB 461, AND "NO" ON ALL AMENDMENTS.  Tell your Representative that any and all amendments will be coming from the trial lawyers, will be bad for employers, and should be defeated.

The trial lawyers and unions have generated literally hundreds of calls to every single Representative already.  THEY HAVE TO HEAR FROM BUSINESS IN BIG NUMBERS!!!

Below are three hot links.  The first is to the text of SB 461.  The second is a webpage where you can type in an address and confirm who your Representative is.  The third one takes you to a list of Representatives, with a hotlink you can click to get their contact information.

This is the best opportunity KSIA has ever had to get substantive, pro-employer work comp legislation through the House.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR.  E-MAIL THEM.  CALL THEIR OFFICE AT THE CAPITOL.  Please do all three of these things.  Make sure they know you are a constituent.  Make sure if you talk to staff that they know it's a bill that will be debated on the House floor Monday, and the Representative needs to get your message before that happens.

Thank you all for your support up to this point.  We are so close.  Help us push this bill through the House.  CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY!!!
