Rehabilitation Specialists

According to the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), "injured workers are much more likely to undergo successful rehabilitation and return to work if rehabilitation is started soon after the injury," thereby significantly reducing not only the cost of rehabilitation but also lost productivity. Unfortunately, the GAO also found that less than 17% of injured workers are referred to rehabilitation within seven months. Further, about 50% wait three years before they are referred.

Even prompt physical rehabilitation is only effective if the program is focused on the physical deficits that prevent the employees from performing the essential functions of their job. OHS-COMPCARE provides physical rehabilitation both in our clinical facilities and through a network of physical rehabilitation providers so your employees receive care that is both the best available and effective in returning your employees to work.

Our subsidiary, Rehabilitation Specialists provides services that both evaluate employees’ physical abilities after an injury or illness and work to prevent accidents and illness in the first place. These services include:

  • Therapists experienced in workers' compensation injury care
  • Rehabilitation integrated with the medical care to shorten the time and cost of recovery.
  • Direct communications between the therapist and the physician.
  • Treatment plans based on quantified deficits and the essential functions of the job as the goal
  • Use of Coefficient of Variation to identify self limiting barriers to recovery
  • Functional capacity evaluations to determine physical abilities and limitations with respect to job functions after a work-related illness or for personal medical disability cases
  • State-of-the-art equipment for computerized functional testing
  • Pre-placement/post-offering testing to provide baseline, ADA-compliant information about a new hire’s physical abilities to perform essential job functions
  • ADA-compliant essential functions development
  • Job analysis and worksite evaluations
